Complete the OPS New Hire Packet on the internet and ensure that forms are completed accurately and returned to your supervisor.
DEP employees are asked to provide a copy of their Social Security card to the Bureau of Personnel Services in order for us
to verify that the Social Security card name and number match the information entered in the People First System. This
verification is also required for accurate processing of an employee’s payroll and reporting of federal withholding taxes by
the Department of Financial Services, State of Florida. As an employee of the Department of Environmental Services, you are
being provided with this notice pursuant to s. 119.071(5)(a)2, Florida Statutes.
These forms must be submitted to the Bureau of Personnel Services within 3 DAYS of employment.

Please print the I-9 form, fill out the information in Section 1, and return to your supervisor on the first day of employment. Non-citizens must send a copy of their work authorization.

As a DEP employee, it is important to you and to the DEP that you know and understand its contents. It is your responsibility to
review the handbook and,
after so doing, to complete the “Acknowledgment of Receipt” found on the last page of the handbook, and to send it to the Bureau of Personnel Services at MS-70. This signed acknowledgment will be placed in your official personnel file as documentation of your having reviewed and understand the information outlined in the handbook.

FACILITY LAYOUT
Become familiar with the office layout and other facilities within the building. Ask about emergency evacuation plans for the building and the location of fire exits.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Become familiar with the office work hours and rules. Learn who to contact in the event you need to be absent. Discuss other pertinent rules and regulations within the agency with your supervisor.
PEOPLE FIRST – NEW EMPLOYEE ACTIONS
After going through the People First Orientation
Training, you should be able to logon and maneuver within the People
First System. After receiving your PEOPLE FIRST ID NUMBER from
your supervisor, you will need to take the following actions:
- Logon to PEOPLE FIRST system
- Verify, and/or enter, if blank, your personal and work information
such as W4/W5, emergency contacts, etc., in PEOPLE FIRST and advise your supervisor of any errors.
- Learn how to complete your timesheet in PEOPLE FIRST
- Complete Direct Deposit information in PEOPLE FIRST
