  • Look for the NRFC label to evaluate energy performance and compare products.
  • Maximize effectiveness of the window by considering its function and placement.

Energy Star logo

Appliances

  • Select the right type and size appliance for your needs.
  • Look for the yellow-and-black Energy Guide label   to compare the estimated energy usage and costs for competing brands and similar models.
 
  • If the appliance features the Energy Star logo , this means the appliance is significantly more energy efficient than the average comparable model.

  • If you buy a front-loading washing machine, you can save on both water and energy usage and wash bulkier items such as sleeping bags.
