Things you can do to keep Florida's air clean!

Plant Native Trees & Shrubs

Previous Tip . Next Tip

Planting Shrubs graphic
  • Tree and shrub landscapes act as a natural air cleaner filtering particles and absorbing pollutants out of the air.  Green landscapes add oxygen in the air, help reduce noise pollution, increase property value, and provide food and shelter for birds and animals.
  • Place native trees in areas around your home to provide a cool shade for your house in the summer but allow light and a windbreak for your property in the winter.
Yard Sprinkler graphic
  • Adjust the sprinklers during the fall and winter to reduce irrigation time and frequency.
  • Shut off the sprinklers when it rains.
