Clean Marina Designation Ceremony

"The Clean Boating Partnership congratulates Clean Marinas for their commitment to Florida’s environment. Their dedication and hard work is an accomplishment to be proud of and we look forward to growing our Clean Marina family.”

~John Naybor
Clean Boating Partnership Vice-Chair

In 2000, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Marine Industry of Florida formed the Clean Boating Partnership. This public/private partnership consists of marina and boatyard operators along with representatives from the Marine Industries Association of Florida (MIAF) and its local chapters, Florida Sea Grant Program, United States Coast Guard (USCG), USCG Auxiliary, USCG Sea Partners Program, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the DEP. This partnership provides assistance and evaluation, as well as program outreach, workshops, technical assistance and mentoring.

Creating a clean boating environment through a working partnership between industry and government is the mission of the Clean Boating Partnership, complementing the DEP’s mission statement of “More Protection, Less Process.” These mission statements describe the commitment of the Partnership and DEP to pursue environmental protection through non-regulatory programs, using approaches that achieve greater levels of protection with increased citizen participation. The Partnership’s common goals motivate the marine industry to protect the environment, allowing boaters to enjoy recreational activities in and around Florida’s waterways.
