Beach Access and Safety Program

The Florida Coastal Management Program (FCMP) provides Public Access Signs, Beach Warning Flag Signs, Beach Warning Flag Sets and Rip Current Awareness Signs free of charge to Florida's coastal communities and governmental agencies. These signs and flags are provided to promote beach safety and the protection of state's fragile coastal environment while facilitating public access to cultural, historic and natural resources along the coast.

Each year qualified entities may order ONLINE from October 1st to December 15th.

Who can order?

  • Eligible entities include state and local governments or other governmental entity that provide public access to and use of the coast.
  • Eligible entities may request as many flags and signs as they need as long as grant funds are available.

Things you need to know:

  • All signs and flags must be posted in public access areas within the state of Florida.
  • Communities that receive the signs and flags are responsible for proper installation, use and maintenance.
  • When determining the number of signs and flags required by your community or public facility, please assess your immediate need plus any anticipated needs next year due to theft, vandalism, weather or other circumstances.
  • Eligible orders will be fulfilled to the extent that grant funding allows.

What happens if I order late?

  • All timely orders are processed at the close of the order cycle on January 1st. An order received on January 2nd is considered a late order. Late orders will always be accepted, BUT they will NOT be filled until the next available opportunity.
