Description

The GTM Research Reserve invites you to celebrate National Estuaries Day from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th at the GTM Environmental Education Center, located at 505 Guana River Rd. Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. In honor of the nationwide event, a multitude of activities are planned for the entire family to enjoy. National Estuaries Day activities will focus on the importance of our estuaries and the need to protect them.

Included in the festivities will be presentations by the nationally recognized group of professional puppeteers "The Puppet People", best known for their people-sized puppets. In addition, there will be live animal presentations, touch tanks, kayak tours, nature crafts for kids of all ages, estuary games and activities, live music by Shaun Lightfoot, face painting by Persia Portrait, fish printing and more! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will showcase a wildlife trailer with real mounts of Florida wildlife and their Law Enforcement Division will showcase boating safety. Other exhibitors will include Anastasia State Park, Anastasia Mosquito Control District, Florida Sea Grant Extension Program, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Whitney Lab, Sea Oats Chapter-Florida Native Plant Society, the Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program, and Ripple Effect Ecotours.

Bring the family and join us for a fun and educational day.  Admission is $2 per person. Food will also be available for purchase. All event proceeds will be used to support the education, research and stewardship programs of the Reserve.
