Why aren’t we restoring the Everglades to its original state?

Decades of draining and development have reduced the size of Everglades by almost one half, while rainfall over the same area has remained relatively unchanged. Putting 100 percent of the historical water into an area that is now 50 percent of its original size would drown the Everglades. Florida will be putting the right amount of water at the right time to restore the health of the remaining Everglades.
