Additional ways to obtain USGS topographic products are:
- Information on identifying and ordering topographic maps may be obtained by visiting the USGS Online
Store at http://store.usgs.gov/. A current listing of all USGS business partners and resellers is available
at: http://rockyweb.cr.usgs.gov/acis-bin/querypartner.cgi. Please contact the USGS business partner listed for
information and product pricing.
- The Florida Resources and Environmental Analysis Center (FREAC – http://www.freac.fsu.edu) distributes
the digital topographic maps through the Land Boundary Information System, http://www.labins.org which is a
free web site for downloading USGS 7.5 minute quadrangles in TIFF format. You should also download the
geographic information system (GIS) world file (TFW) to use these products in a GIS environment.
- TopoZone, http://www.topozone.com, is another useful site; however, it is a pay site. This website
can provide accurate displays concerning a specific area and the price is reasonable.
- If you desire a quick method of acquiring high-quality paper maps, try Map Sport via
http://mapsport.com.
This site can provide paper topographic products for as little as $6.95 plus shipping and handling.
- If you need to have multiple topographic sheets from all over the United States then there is readily
available software, one called TopoUSA available from Delorme (http://www.delorme.com/topousa), which usually
costs around $99.95 and has all topographic quadrangles for the United States on DVD/CD.
The Florida Geological Survey does not receive support or funding nor does FGS collaborate
with these websites. The end-user takes on all risk associated by entering said web sites.
