GeoData Disclaimer

DEP has not confirmed the accuracy of all the spatial data contained in its databases. Users of this data should therefore do so at their own risk. In addition, a similar disclaimer should accompany any redistribution or reproduction of this data. Data is provided on an "as is" basis. Information about the availability of specific layers may be obtained by contacting the BIS-GIS section at 850-245-8238/SC 205-8238. Data will be distributed as WinZip archives of ESRI shapefiles. Metadata documentation is included with each WinZipped shapefile and is available for every dataset available for download. The primary means of distribution is via the Department's FTP site, located at ftp://ftp.dep.state.fl.us/pub/gis/data. The file names are meant to be as descriptive as possible. However, if you have difficulty, please consult the directory or contact any of us in the section.

Special accommodations may be made for requestors with limited or no available access to the FTP site. In those cases, media type will be 8mm-tape, CDROM or 3.5 diskette. Tapes may be created in low or medium density format (2GB, 5GB, or 14GB). Applicable media charges may be applied if the medium is not replaced or provided by the requestor.

All data are provided in the FDEP custom Albers projection in the HPGN datum. The projection parameters are as follows:

24 00 00
 First Standard Parallel
31 30 00   Second Standard Parallel
-84 00 00   Central Meridian
24 00 00   Latitude of Origin
400000   False Easting (meters)
 False Northing (meters)

If you need to work with the data in a different projection, please see Reprojecting DEP Data.

Currently, data are available as statewide layers, with the exception of landuse/landcover and SSURGO soils datasets processed from the five Water Management Districts (WMDs). These regional data layers correspond to WMD boundaries. No customized clipping or joining will be performed.
