Econlockhatchee River Canoe Trail
The Econlockhatchee River Canoe Trail is officially designated as part of Florida’s Statewide System of Greenways and Trails. This scenic wilderness river, known to locals as the “Econ”, is located only nine miles from Orlando. The river is shallow and narrow as it twists through oak-palm hammocks on the upper section, but it broadens about halfway down the trail. High, sandy banks frame this dark-colored river, but there are occasional sandbars that can be used for camping. This river flows northeasterly to it junction with the St. Johns where the trail ends 1.5 miles downstream (north) of the confluence.
