Guana River State Park Trails
The Guana River State Park is officially designated as part of Florida’s Statewide System of Greenways and Trails. A 1592 account by a Spanish historian has led present day historians to believe that Guana River was the site of Ponce de Leon's first landing in Florida. Its precise location is unknown. Nonetheless, this park offers history, beautiful coastal ecosytems and pleasurable trail experiences. Only a few miles from St. Augustine, the park also provides great Atlantic Ocean swimming and surf fishing as well as some freshwater lake fishing. The unpaved trails are excellent and are enjoyed by all levels of riders and hikers.

Notes:
The trails, mostly double track, branch off from the main road at the sign-in area. To the south, the trails loop around. To the north, they connect to a Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission Wildlife Management Area. The trails are marked by color code with cut-in chevrons on poles pointing in the direction(s) of travel. The trail surface is generally well-packed.

Access/Directions:

From St. Augustine, take A1A north to the entrance of the park.

From Jacksonville Beach or Ponte Vedra Beach, take A1A south to the entrance of the park.
