Highlands Hammock State Park Trails
Highlands Hammock State Park is officially designated as part of Florida’s Statewide Greenways and Trails System. When Florida’s state park system was established in 1935, Highlands Hammock was one of four original state parks created by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This jewel is home to beautiful virgin hardwood hammock forest. Enhancing the diversity of experience for trail-goers, the park also encompasses other natural communities, including cypress swamp, pine flatwoods, sand pine scrub, bayheads and marsh.

Notes:
Eight separate nature trails meander through the park, offering hikers views of the park’s various natural communities. One of the most popular is the Cypress Swamp Trail which provides a boardwalk tour of a pristine cypress swamp.

The park’s paved loop drive provides a pleasant ride for bicyclists to experience the park’s beautiful namesake hardwood hammock community.

The park’s double-track unpaved trails provide are well suited for horseback riding, and in some locations, for mountain biking and hiking. Proof of recent negative Coggins test prior to horseback riding is required. Contact the park for details regarding equestrian trails and facilities.

Directions:

From US 27 in Sebring, head west on CR 634/Hammock Road until you enter the park.
