A
Boundless Playground
provides recreational and educational opportunities
for children with and without disabilities. DEP’s Office of Greenways
& Trails is proud to facilitate the creation of Boundless Playgrounds®
on the state’s greenways and trails—giving all children and all
generations--the chance to enjoy the natural wonders of the
environment as they learn together through play. A Boundless
Playground® contains elements that provide recreational and
educational opportunities for children of all abilities. Simple
differences include a poured-in-place rubber surface, ramps on the
play sets, elevated sand table and activity panels and swings and
bouncers with high-back support.
With the generous support of The Felburn
Foundation, the following Boundless Playgrounds® have been built by
DEP’s Office of Greenways & Trails and provide an opportunity for all
children to enjoy Florida’s greenways and trails:
Cross Florida Greenway in Marion County
Located at the Baseline Road Trailhead,
this playground is operated and maintained by Marion County. It
is just one recreational site that is within the 110 mile long, 80,000
acre Cross Florida Greenway, which stretches from the Gulf of Mexico
to the St. Johns River.
Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail in Wakulla County
Located at the Wakulla Station Trailhead of
the 16-mile Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail, this
playground is a popular site for family outings along this picturesque
and historic state trail.

“I commend DEP’s greenways, trails and
state parks for working to enhance outdoor recreation throughout the
state so more people with disabilities can enjoy natural Florida,”
said Director of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities Jim
DeBeaugrine. “Building new inclusive playgrounds and other
facilities are important to all people within and visiting our state
while attempting to ensure that every member of a family can actively
participate in recreational activities in our state parks, greenways,
and trails.”
