Inspector General E-Government

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducts independent and objective audits, investigations and reviews of agency issues and programs in order to assist the Department protecting, conserving, and managing Florida's environment and natural resources. OIG conducts fair and impartial audits, investigations, and reviews that are informed, logical, supportable, and timely about issues and matters of importance to the Department.


Other duties and responsibilities of the Inspector General include:

  • advising in the development of performance measures, standards, and procedures for evaluating programs;
  • reviewing actions taken by the agency to improve performance and meet standards;
  • conducting, supervising, or coordinating other activities to promote economy and efficiency;
  • preventing and detecting fraud and abuse in agency programs and operations;
  • ensuring effective coordination and cooperation between the Auditor General, federal auditors, and other governmental bodies;
  • reviewing rules of the agency; and,
  • ensuring that an appropriate balance is maintained between audit, investigative, and other accountability activities.
