Chapter 62-160, F.A.C. – Quality Assurance Rules The Bureau of Laboratories is proposing changes to the Department’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program for water, waste and resource management programs. These changes will affect how DEP implements QA oversight for laboratories and field sampling operations. Rather than relying on the review of QA Plans, which is a review of the intent to provide "good" data, resources will be focused on data quality assessment. The rule revisions will also support the development and implementation of electronic data reporting. More detailed information is available on the QA Program Changes Intranet page or by contacting

Discrete Analyzer Technology:
FDEP Environmental
Assessment Section determines that method applications using discrete analyzer
technology is an acceptable modification to the cited EPA methods and requires
no application for alternative test procedure. There was some confusion about
the use of surfactants. This revised version clarifies the Department's
position that surfactants other than those specified (or not included) in the
reference method are acceptable.
