DCF Eases Food Stamp Process in Franklin, Wakulla

--Agency encourages participation in replacement, regular programs --

TALLAHASSEE – The Department of Children & Families (DCF) is encouraging residents of Franklin and Wakulla counties to participate in the Food Stamp Program as a means of replacing food supplies that may have been lost to Hurricane Dennis.

DCF personnel are stationed in Franklin and Wakulla to facilitate the replacement Food Stamp application process for residents who are already participating in the regular Food Stamp Program. Replacement Food Stamps are available to participants in the regular program who lose their food supplies due to natural disasters and other phenomenon. The Department also is encouraging non-participants who meet eligibility requirements to apply for the regular program.

Applicants for replacement Food Stamps must have lost some or all of their food supplies to receive replacement benefits. Applicants for the regular program must meet eligibility criteria to receive benefits.

The Department is taking action in part because the Disaster Food Stamp Program, being implemented in the Western Panhandle, is not available in Franklin and Wakulla counties.

DCF is accepting applications for new and replacement benefits from Monday through Friday, July 22 at the locations below. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Franklin County Health Department
