State Roads to Reopen in Escambia and Okaloosa Counties

CHIPLEY- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reopens the Escambia Bay Bridge on I-10 between Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and plans to reopen US 98 between Fort Walton Beach and Destin today.

The I-10 Escambia Bay Bridge is open to both westbound and eastbound traffic. There are two (2) lanes westbound and one (1) lane eastbound. The Escambia Bay Bridge was closed to traffic due to high winds from Hurricane Katrina.

In Okaloosa County, FDOT crews are pushing to open US 98 on Okaloosa Island to two-lanes of traffic eastbound and one-lane of traffic westbound by 1 p.m. The road was closed due to flooding conditions from Hurricane Katrina. Officials anticipate restoring traffic to two-lanes westbound by late Wednesday.
