Watershed management biologists conduct
approximately 30 to 50
BioRecons
Ecosummaries,
Stream
Condition Indexes (SCIs) and 4 to 5 Fifth
Year Surveys per year. In addition, the section investigates
incidents such as fish kills, red tide and the biological impacts of
sedimentation, non-point source pollution, and
landfill impacts on stream benthos in the Florida Panhandle.
Students from the
University of Florida Milton Campus accompanied FDEP Staff to the
Arcadia Historical Mill Site on Pond Creek for a biological water
quality assessment of the creek bed.

Bioassessment methodology is available in Adobe Acrobat format
