Mission

The mission of the Office of Strategic Projects and Planning (OSPP) is to support the achievement of environmental protection through sound analysis and professional staffing of the policy-making process. The Office undertakes this mission through:

  • Coordination of the Department’s strategic priority-setting and planning activities;
  • Formulation of options and analysis of potential outcomes of public policy alternatives;
  • Assessment of program performance and environmental outcomes through the use of metrics and indicators; and
  • Analysis of the “business” of DEP programs to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and gather actionable requirements for enterprise information system development.

Service Areas

To fulfill this mission, OSPP has three core service areas: Business Analysis and Process Improvement, Environmental Policy Analysis, and Strategic Planning and Priority-Setting. These functions provide the Department’s Leadership Team with sound options and recommendations to ensure continual improvement in the delivery of environmental protection services by the Department.
