Northwest Region - District 1
From Perdido Key on the Alabama line to St. George Island near
Apalachicola to Maclay Gardens in Tallahassee, the state parks in the
Northwest District (1) include a diversity of natural communities,
cultural and historical sites, and recreational opportunities that are
unsurpassed in all of Florida. Commonly referred to as the Real
Florida's Panhandle Parks, this range of thirty-six state parks includes
some of the world's best beaches. The District's beach parks have either
been ranked the best or have consistently scored high in Dr. Stephen
Letherman's Best Beaches Survey.
Northeast Region - District 2
Welcome to the Northeast District of Florida State Parks! Our
district stretches from Inverness to Fernandina, and from Jacksonville
to the Suwannee River. The Northeast district has 34 parks, covering
roughly 117,643 acres. Special to this area of Florida are numerous
freshwater springs, which are popular areas for canoeing, kayaking, or a
picnic along the banks. At certain times of the year, you can take on
the challenge of Class III rapids.
The Northeast district is also the only district on Florida's
mainland that allows you to watch the sunrise from the beautiful
Atlantic at the Talbot Islands, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets from
lovely Cedar Key. If you prefer to stay dry, the Northeast district is
home to a 21,000-acre open prairie, which offers a one of a kind
wildlife experience in its most natural setting. With our extensive
rivers, hammocks, trails, camping, and cultural sites, the Northeast
district provides a diverse experience for both the novice and advanced
outdoors adventurer.
Central Region - District 3
Beautiful gardens, sunken treasure, cracker cowboys, cool springs,
and breathtaking beaches can all be discovered in east central Florida’s
parks. From Anastasia to Kissimmee Prairie, District 3 offers an
abundance of opportunities to experience…the Real Florida. Hiking,
biking, swimming, canoeing, and horseback riding are only a few ways to
enjoy over 194,800 acres of parklands in some 30 state parks that
District 3 administers. For a day trip, or a long journey of
exploration, District 3’s parks have something for everyone.
Southwest Region - District 4
Stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Lake Wales Ridge and from
Inverness to the Everglades are 35 Florida State Parks featuring
landscapes that include swamps, dry prairie, scrub, pine flatwoods, a
salt spring, the world’s longest fishing pier, lighthouses, bicycle and
equestrian trails, and miles of beautiful beaches. The Southwest
District 4 Parks offer extensive recreational opportunities to explore
both land and water, and discover some of Florida’s rich natural and
cultural heritage.
Southeast Region - District 5
Stretching nearly 300 miles, from Ft. Pierce to Key West, the 24
state parks of District 5 are as diverse as the communities and visitors
they serve. From the historic island parks of Indian and Lignumvitae
Key, to the freshwater marshes of the Savannas Preserve, southeast
Florida’s State Parks afford visitors the opportunity to explore a
region steeped in rich cultural history and breathtaking scenic beauty.
