The Office of Communications is charged with the overall responsibility
of communicating the Department of Environmental Protection’s mission
to citizens, policy makers and businesses who are interested in Florida’s
environment and natural resources. It is comprised of the Marketing
Office, the Office of Environmental Education, the Office of Citizen
Services and the Press Office.

Ombudsman & Public Services

The Office of Citizen Services develops, manages and controls
routing procedures for correspondence addressed to and signed
by the Governor and executive staff. The Office also researches
and assembles information for constituents.

Press Office
The
Press Office serves as the primary contact for the news media
regarding the Department’s programs and events, providing accurate
and timely information to the public through print and broadcast
mediums. Staff monitors state and national news for developing
trends, opinions and environmental media coverage.

Environmental Education

The Office of Environmental Education assists and advises
the Department’s Divisions and Districts, and the public through
the development and distribution of environmentally-related
educational materials, most notably through the Learning in
Florida's Environment (LIFE) program. The LIFE program takes
seventh graders outside the classroom to learn about Florida’s

Marketing

The Marketing Office communicates the Department’s message
by creating innovative and original design concepts for print
and electronic campaigns as well as through speech writing.
Materials produced include newsletters, invitations, brochures,
