The LIFE – Apalachicola Program is a partnership between
DEP’s Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve and the
Franklin County School District. The Program targets all seventh
grade students in the district and involves four separate field
days, one every nine weeks. Each field day involves three distinct
field labs led by DEP staff and assisted by seventh grade teachers.
Field sites include the ANERR Nature Center, the St. George
Island State Park, the St. Joseph Bay Buffer Preserve Center,
and Florida State University’s Edward Ball Marine Lab. Supplemental Financial support for the project comes from
the St. Joe Community Foundation
and a grant from the
Oceans Initiative.
