The LIFE
Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park Program is a partnership between the Department of Environmental Protection and the
Pasco County School
District. Approximately 120 eighth grade students from
Chasco Middle School will participate in three field experiences each year in the park and the
nearby marine science center. The project will apply science concepts, methods and skills as they
explore the park's unique geology, springs and coastal ecosystems. After the first year, this
LIFE program will follow the same group of middle school students for three years as they progress
from sixth to eighth grade. Funding for this program comes in part from the
Florida Springs Initiative.
