Hog Valley Boat Landing Closing For Improvements

--Boaters Advised to Use Alternative Ramps--

PALATKA -- The Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Greenways & Trails, announced today that the Hog Valley Boat Landing in Marion County will be closed for construction for approximately three weeks beginning August 13, 2001.

The Hog Valley Boat Landing is located at NE 245th Street Road in Hog Valley, Florida and provides access to Rodman Reservoir and the Ocklawaha River. The landing is being upgraded to a boat ramp in a cooperative effort between the Office of Greenways & Trails, as the land manager for the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The new boat ramp will be a 16-feet wide by 76-feet long concrete ramp. The contractor for the project is J. W. Boyd, Inc. of Williston, Florida.

During this period, boaters should use the boat ramps at Eureka near County Road 316.
