Florida Forever Projects Ranked


-- Twenty-three projects added to "A" list, protecting more of Florida’s resources --

TALLAHASSEE – Members of the Florida Forever Acquisition and Restoration Council voted today to add five new projects to the program’s "A" priority list, move 18 from the "B" priority list to the "A" list, and retain those currently on the "A" list (18).

New Projects added to Priority List "A":

  • Okeechobee Battlefield – 55 acres (Okeechobee County)
  • Northeast Florida Timberlands – 132,450 acres (Nassau/Duval/Clay/Putnam counties)
  • Babcock Ranch – 91,361 acres (Charlotte/Lee counties)
  • Northeast Florida Blueway (phase II) – 27,929 acres (Duval/St. Johns/Flagler counties)
  • Kissimmee-St. Johns – 36,216 acres (Okeechobee/Indian River counties)
  •  

Projects moved from "B" to "A" Priority List :

  • Apalachicola River (Gadsden/Liberty/Calhoun/Jackson counties)
  • Archie Carr Sea Turtle Refuge (Brevard/Indian River counties)
  • Brevard Coastal Scrub Ecosystem (Brevard County)
  • Caloosahatchee Ecoscape (Glades/Hendry counties)
  • Catfish Creek (Polk County)
  • Etoniah/Cross Florida Greenway (Putnam/Marion/Citrus counties)

Priority List "A" contains the highest priority state-funded projects; Priority List "B" contains significant environmental projects that require additional funds from other sources.
