Bay
County Man Arrested on Hazardous Waste Charges
--Currently in jail on
charges surrounding meth lab operations--
TALLAHASSEE - This
afternoon, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
law enforcement agents served Michael E. Pair, age 42, of
Parker, Florida with an arrest warrant. Pair was charged
with unlawful storage and disposal of hazardous waste, a
third-degree felony, stemming from a related drug charge
for which Pair is currently being held in the Bay County
jail. Pair was also charged with violation of the Florida
Pollution Control Act, a third-degree misdemeanor.
These additional charges
stem from an earlier joint investigation with the DEP’s
Division of Law Enforcement, Bay County Sheriff’s
Office, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Bureau of
Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. On October 1, 2002, agents
executed a search warrant at Pair’s Parker home where he
was allegedly operating a methamphetamine laboratory.
Agents seized various illicit drugs, assorted drug
paraphernalia, hazardous chemicals, firearms, and an
explosive device.
Pair will appear before a
Bay County judge on December 14 to respond to all charges
against him.
