Tampa Man
Arrested on 3 Hazardous Waste Felonies
TALLAHASSEE
- Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP) law enforcement agents arrested
Kenneth McCleave, age 50, on three felony counts of
violation of the Florida Hazardous Waste Act. Mr. McCleave,
owner of Affordable Fiberglass Group, was arrested at his
business on 5811 10th Avenue East in Tampa.
The arrest
culminates a six-month joint investigation of Affordable
Fiberglass by DEP’s Bureau of Emergency Response, U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of
Transportation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s
Office, and the Tampa Police Department. During that time,
it was alleged that McCleave illegally stored hazardous
waste in 55-gallon drums and had this waste illegally
transported to another non-permitted
facility, which he owned.
McCleave
was charged with:

Transportation of hazardous waste to a
facility that does not have a permit to
receive hazardous waste.

Storage of hazardous waste at a non-permitted
facility.

Transportation of hazardous waste without a
manifest.

If found
guilty, McCleave could receive up to five years in prison
and/or a $5000 fine per violation.
