DEP Honors Water Facilities For
Excellence
TALLAHASSEE – The Department of Environmental
Protection’s (DEP) Division of Water Resource Management today
presented awards to ten domestic wastewater and five public
drinking water facilities from around the state at the annual Plant
Operations Excellence Awards ceremony held in Tallahassee.
“This is the Department’s salute to those facilities
whose strong commitment to management and professionalism ensure
a safe, dependable supply of drinking water for Floridians,”
said DEP’s Director of Water Resource Management Mimi Drew.
“Good management and maintenance are essential for protecting
Florida’s natural resources and providing reliable services.”
The annual awards recognize domestic wastewater and public
drinking water facilities that demonstrate excellence in
operation, maintenance, innovative treatment, conservation,
reuse, waste reduction and pollution prevention. Criteria used
in selecting winners include a review of the company’s
compliance history, record keeping and reporting, customer
relations, operation and maintenance and employee training.
“Florida is a leader in finding cost-effective, long-term
approaches that improve water quality, reduce pollution and
protect the environment." said Drew. “These awards
