Commission to investigate environmental and health concerns in a Plant
City neighborhood.

FDEP is responsible for protecting the quality of Florida’s water
resources through state water quality standards and monitoring. The
agency conducts permitting and compliance and enforcement programs for
Florida’s domestic and industrial wastewater facilities, and its drinking
water systems.

The role of public health is to promote and protect the health and
safety of all Floridians by identifying health risks in the community;
maintaining a safe and healthful environment; detecting , investigating
and preventing the spread of disease; promoting healthy lifestyles;
informing the public on health issues; providing primary care for individuals
with limited access to the private sector, and ensuring that health
care practitioners meet the requirements for providing adequate care.

The Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) was created in 1967
by special state legislation to control and regulate activities within
Hillsborough County which have the potential to cause pollution or contamination
of air, water, soil and property, or cause excessive and unnecessary
noise. The EPC has countywide jurisdiction and it posesses delegated
state authority for enforcing Air Program rules and regulations.
