Plant City Environmental and Health Investigation Quick Links

Health Investigation Maps

Coronet Industries is located approximately two miles southeast of Plant City, in the northeast section of Hillsborough County, Florida. Coronet's property boundary encompasses roughly 980 acres. Approximately 350 acres of the property are surface water holding ponds.

For water management purposes, the holding ponds are numbered (as depicted on the map) and do not indicate the process treatment route. The ponds are designed to retain and treat water that is processed through the plant, which is shown at the bottom center of the map. Treated water is periodically discharged into English Creek from pond # 4A and pond # 5. Discharges typically occur only during periods of heavy rainfall.

Arial view of Coronet Phosphate CompanyThe Coronet Phosphate Company first began operations on the site as a mining company in 1908. Several different owners and production changes ultimately led to its present day operations for producing an animal feed supplement that is derived from phosphate rock purchased from nearby mining companies. The current owners purchased the facility in 1993, due in part to the close proximity of the site to railroad and interstate highway transport lines.
