St. George Island State Park Reopens Following Hurricane Dennis

ST. GEORGE ISLAND – The Department of Environmental Protection today reopened St. George Island State Park in the Florida Panhandle for day-use visitation. The park will provide visitors access to beaches and the bayside picnic area, which includes restrooms, picnic tables and grills. Until further notice, day use fees will be waived.

The park sustained damage from storm surge to the park entrance road, boardwalks, facilities and campground. The Department began repair and replacement of boardwalks, roads and facilities immediately. Day-use visitors may enjoy walking the beach, swimming, fishing, picnicking, kayaking or wildlife viewing. The campground will remain closed until further notice. Access to the east end fishing area will remain closed until roads are restored and safe access is assured.
