Statement from Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael W. Sole
Regarding the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board's Ratification of the Statement of Principles for U.S. Sugar Corporation Negotiations

“I applaud the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board’s decision today, and look forward to working with them in the coming weeks on the negotiations. Under Governor Crist’s leadership, the details of the acquisition, including the purchase price, will be thoroughly evaluated and discussed by the negotiating parties, and eventually voted on by the Governing Board.

“Florida is committed to reviving the historic River of Grass, and this exciting opportunity will provide the critical missing link for restoration.”

Michael W. Sole
