Laura Comer is a graduate of Florida
Southern College with an M.S. in Physics from Florida State
University. She began her career at the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection in the Tallahassee Branch Office in 1991 as
an Environmental Specialist with the Petroleum Storage Tank and
Solid and Hazardous Waste Programs. Laura transferred to the Fort
Myers office in 1994 as a Hazardous Waste Inspector before taking on
the duties of Pollution Prevention Coordinator in 1999.
The
Pollution
Prevention Program provides technical assistance to businesses,
local government and internal DEP staff with the goal of conserving
resources, improving processes and reducing waste. Laura also
coordinates the local activities of the
Clean Marina Program and provides support for other
non-regulatory programs including the
Florida Green Lodging Program.
