The Environmental Assessment and Restoration Section of the South District focuses on non-regulatory watershed planning and water resource issues in Southwest Florida.  This includes involvement in Everglades Restoration projects, the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Plan, watershed monitoring/research as well as biological monitoring/research.

Geographical information system  is a tool that allows users to create interactive queries (user created searches), analyze the spatial information, edit data, maps, and present the results of all these operations. Geographic information science is the science underlying the geographic concepts, applications and systems.
