State Funded Cleanup Program Corner of Tab Highlights

The State-Funded cleanup program is designed to address sites where there are no viable responsible parties; the site poses an imminent hazard; and, the site does not qualify for Superfund or is a low priority for EPA. Remediation efforts are triggered when a Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection District Office requests adoption of a site for state-funded cleanup.

Funding for these remedial efforts comes from the Water Quality Assurance Trust Fund. Remedial activity may include contamination assessments, risk assessments, feasibility studies, design and construction of treatment systems, operation and maintenance of the installed treatment systems, and removal of contaminated media when necessary.

A list of state-funded waste cleanup sites is available in the "Quick Look" Summary.
