Mine Safety

 

The Mine Safety Training Program provides federally mandated MSHA safety and health training throughout the state, as requested by mine operators and mining contractors. Section functions include providing the training of miners (both mine employees and contractor employees (approximately 1,100 per year); training mine safety instructors; providing mine safety training libraries with up-to-date videos, manuals, and other training aids; providing specialized training programs for local and out-of-state trainers; and developing and creating mine safety videos through close coordination with the mining industry.

Trenton Area Mines
MSHA Part 46.8 Annual Refresher & First Aid Refresher Training

The Florida Mine Safety & Health Training Program (FMSH) will be conducting MSHA Part 46.8 Annual Refresher Training on Tuesday & Wednesday, March 30th & 31st, 2010 at the Gilchrist County Emergency Operations Center, 3250 North US Highway 129, Bell, FL 32619. The Refresher Training will begin at 7:30 A.M., and each class will meet for eight (8) hours. Participants should plan on being there until 4:30 P.M. Appropriate breaks, including a lunch break, will be provided.

You must bring or send a copy of your MSHA Part 46 Training Plan, listing the Florida Mine Safety Training Program as a competent program for Annual Refresher Training in Item 3 for the FMSHP files, to the class (if we don’t already have a copy – call if you are not sure).

*Training Prerequisites

Instructor Institute Requirements:

You must have completed at least MSHA New Miner Training to be eligible for this training.

Annual Refresher Requirements:

  1. Miner must have completed “New Miner Training” or be an “Experienced Miner” for at least 3 years
  2. Attendees not meeting Requirement 1 above will not receive a 5000-23 training certificate
  3. FMSH must be listed on the mine’s Part 46 Training Plan under Item 3 as a competent organization to provide 46.8 training
  4. FMSH must have a current copy of the mine’s training plan on file

Training Plans

A proper training plan is essential and mandatory under Title 30 CFR Parts 46.3 and 48.23. If you need help developing your training plan please call or email and we will be glad to assist you free of charge. If you are not sure whether or not you need a training plan or if you would like us to review your existing plan, please call or email. Sample Training Plans with Instructions are available in MS Word format upon request. Remember, training plans may be submitted online.
