Water Reuse for State Agencies, State Universities, and
Water Management Districts
Florida Statutes direct all state agencies, state
universities, and water management districts to use reclaimed water to
the greatest extent practicable. Florida Statutes also require submittal
of Annual Agency Reuse Reports detailing efforts to use reclaimed water.

Why Reuse?
Water reuse simply makes sense for Florida and Florida
has become the national leader in water reuse. Using reclaimed water
(treated domestic wastewater) conserves precious drinking water
resources. Water reuse also offers opportunities to recharge and augment
available surface water and ground water resources in a manner that
protects public health and environmental quality. Use of reclaimed water
by state agencies, state universities, and water management districts
aids in Florida’s water conservation efforts. Use by state agencies,
state universities, and water management districts also serves to
educate the public about water reuse, the quality of reclaimed water,
the safety of reuse, and the acceptability of reuse.
Water Reuse Seminar
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
convened a seminar in Tallahassee on July 27, 2005 to disseminate
information related to water reuse and to discuss the statutory
requirements that apply to all state agencies, state universities, and
water management districts.
Preparing Annual Agency Reuse Reports
2007 Annual Agency Reuse Reports were due
February 1, 2008.
All state agencies, state universities, and
water management districts are required to submit Annual Agency
Reuse Reports.
