STORET
News & Announcements
The Storet Data Checker and SIM201 Checker for the Virtual
Machine (VM) environment are now available. MS Excel is required
for the proper operation of the current Storet and SIM checkers.
Due to the lack of accessibility to MS Office applications in
the VM environment, a new checker format has been created and is
ready for download. If your
STORET installation is in a VM environment that does not have MS
Office accessibility, please download the new STORET and SIM
checkers. Contact your STORET coordinator with any questions or
concerns.
Important Announcement - As a
result of technical issues within the DEP network there is
currently a limit on the size of data sets that can be
downloaded through the SPA site. Please read the full
announcement under General
Correspondence.
The next IWR Run is scheduled for June 15,
2014. We request that data be submitted to FDEP by May 15,
2013.
We would like to take a moment to
welcome all new agencies joining the STORET program, and all of
the new STORET contact personnel for existing data providers. If
there is anything we can do to help you in your Storet
experience, don’t hesitate to contact your
STORET Coordinator.
-Your FDEP STORET Team
Thank you, STORET Data Providers, for all of
your hard work and participation in the STORET program. We
recognize that you are the driving force behind the assessment
and maintenance of Florida’s waters. Below are the current
statistics for Florida’s contribution to STORET. These stats
will be updated quarterly, in conjunction with the IWR runs.
- Number of STORET data providers on file: 126
- Number of records in Florida STORET as of
3/22/2013: 25,365,030
The STORET team, within the Division of Environmental
Assessment and Restoration (DEAR) at the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection (FDEP), helps you meet the requirements
for submitting your data to Florida STORET. These include
requirements of the Impaired Waters Rule (IWR;
Chapter 62-303, Florida Administrative Code) and
EAS01-01. We
create custom applications, develop helpful tools and training,
and produce documents that will aid you along the way. The
STORET team will also work with you one-on-one to help you
understand and create the best method to submit your data to
STORET. Our philosophy is to provide this training in advance so
that our data providers are prepared for future data management
tasks required by the Department’s programs.
STORET—an acronym for STORage and RETrieval database—is the
database currently used by FDEP to capture, store, and report
chemical, physical, and biological water quality data. Florida
STORET is the primary application used by the FDEP in support of
IWR assessments and the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads
(TMDLs), and it also provides data crucial to many other
programs, including the development of water quality criteria
and Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs), to name just a few.
Your data contribution will be used to help the FDEP better
assess the waters of the basins in your area. The data you and
other agencies submit will be available for browsing and
downloading from FDEP’s STORET Web Retrieval site. The rewards
associated with data submission range from Federal grants to
watershed restoration and peace of mind. Your data are needed
and appreciated. Thank you. |
