Rulemaking Completed: Wastewater Management in the Wekiva Study Area
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has
completed rulemaking that created a rule governing wastewater management
in the Wekiva Study Area. This rulemaking resulted from enactment of
Senate Bill 908 in 2005, which enabled the DEP to adopt rules
implementing the specific recommendations of the December 2004 report

Public Workshop
A public workshop was held in Apopka on November 1, 2005 to discuss
the proposed rule. Information related to the workshop follows:
Rule Adoption
The Wekiva Rule was adopted by the Environmental Regulation
Commission (ERC) at a public hearing in Tallahassee on February 23,
2006.
The Final Rule
The Wekiva Rule became
effective on April 13, 2006.
