Mangrove Trimming

Delegation of the mangrove program is authorized under Section 403.9324 of the Florida Statutes. The following local governments have been delegated the authority to implement the program:

The following persons are considered professional mangrove trimmers, in accordance with Section 403.9329 of the Florida Statutes:

• Certified arborists, certified by the International Society of Arboriculture;
• Professional wetland scientists, certified by the Society of Wetland Scientists;
• Certified environmental professionals, certified by the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals;
• Ecologists, certified by the Ecological Society of America;
• Landscape Architects, licensed under part II of chapter 481;
• Individuals who have attained the status of a professional mangrove trimmer under Sections 403.9329(1)(f) or (g) of the Florida Statutes.  For individuals who have received PMT status from a delegated government, contact that local government.  Pinellas County maintains a list of PMTs.
